Cleistocactus strausii a columnar cactus indigenous to mountainous regions of South America. It may reach 6 feet or more in height.

As it is native to higher elevations it prefers full sunlight but not extremely high temperatures. Water every 3-4 weeks during the growing season, much less in winter.
