The Euphorbia knuthii is a caudiciform spiny succulent native to Southern Africa.
Its main stem forms a caudex which can grow very large over time and the plant is often raised by owners to expose more of the caudex. Twisted around the caudex are intertwining tuberous roots which add to the impressive bulk.
Euphorbia knuthii are hardy and easy to grow. They are sun-loving but will tolerate some shade. Well drained medium is essential. Water regularly during growing season but leave almost completely dry in winter. Some growers prune the stems in early spring to encourage growth and remove longer straggly branches.
All Euphorbias contain irritating sap, use caution when handling the plant.
These plants are growing in 8 inch plastic nursery pots. Available for pickup and delivery potted in San Francisco otherwise ships bare-root.
