Fouquieria columnaris, the Boojum tree is a tree in the ocotillo family, whose other members include the ocotillos. It is nearly endemic to the Baja California Peninsula. The plant’s English name, Boojum, was given by Godfrey Sykes of the Desert Laboratory in Tucson, Arizona and is taken from Lewis Carroll’s poem “The Hunting of the Snark”. At full size – up to 70 feet tall – it is one of the most striking plants in the world. These plants prefer full-sun but can tolerate half-sun. They are winter growers and should be watered weekly during active growth. Reduce watering during summer dormancy.
This is a nice chunky specimen plant in an 8 Inch plastic nursery pot. Shipping is bare root.
